Introducing our Keynote Speakers

Daren Martin – A Company of Owners: Maximizing Employee Engagement

Lack of employee engagement is the biggest challenge facing business owners and leaders today. In his session Daren Martin will bring us proven insights and solutions he uses to create ownership cultures in some of the biggest companies in the world.

What if everyone at your company was empowered to…
-Act like an owner
-Be fully engaged
-See the company as a connected silo free enterprise
-Work effectively together
-Focus on improving and growing the company

Using insights gleaned from years helping companies and coaching leaders, Dr. Martin teaches company leaders how to turn team members into owners. Areas covered include the difference between an engaged employee and a zombie employee, hiring and firing, why having fun at work is good business, toxic employees, the eight core attitudes and behaviors of an owner, and more.

About Verena

It is important to me to find sustainable solutions in global growth by integrating contradictory perspectives and managing polarities in a meaningful way. With a lust for the future and curiosity about stories worth telling, I ignite listeners and join in for artificial intelligence as a superpower.

For me, SIMPLE means “no question” but also understandable, accessible, people-friendly and culturally compatible. By DOING I mean getting started and curiously asking about tomorrow.

Before setting up the consultation Woodpecker Finch I have many years of management experience in the retail, e-commerce, media and FMCG sectors:
especially in the areas of sales, operations, customer experience, CRM and social media/ marketing communication.

My passion is customer lifetime value in digital transformation. Based on customer behavior, I accompany the further development of business models and do not see digital technology as an end in itself, but as a enabler. The aim is to bring the potential of European companies to the streets and to give their teams superpowers.

I share my accumulated experiences on the subject of artificial intelligence and network economy in lectures and publications, as in my current books  “AI projects – just do it” (Springer Gabler) and  “Artificial Intelligence in Human Resources” (Schäffer Poeschel).

William McNulty – The new way of problem solving

William’s core presentation about “the new way of problem solving” which uses the parallel of military veterans losing their purpose, identity and community when going back to their homes after active service. He will talk about how deploying them into natural disasters or any kind of emergency allows them to re-build these 3 essential building blocks of their being and in extreme cases ultimately saving them from suicide.

William will talk about how improvise, adapt and overcome is like second nature to all marines and again this is an ability that makes them so useful in emergency scenarios when most people get a shock and unable to act.

We will look at the theory of 80% solution which is based on the fact that no information is perfect so you just have to go ahead with imperfect plans and make the rest up on the fly.

The group will do an exercise to test the tools in a disaster scenario (earthquake, flood, tornado or a global pandemic) and aim to make better decisions faster that will help our leaders in their future business decisions.

About William

William McNulty is the cofounder of Team Rubicon and the founder of Team Rubicon Global, the internationally acclaimed veteran-led disaster response organization. He is a U.S. Marine who served in both the infantry and intelligence. He has worked in support of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Council’s Iraq Threat Finance Cell. He holds a B.A. in Economics and Communication Studies from the University of Kansas and an M.A. in Government from Johns Hopkins University.
